Books, Tapes and CDs - Donate it, don't dump it!

Re-use of books, tapes and CD's: There are many people who hoard their old books, tapes and CD's but if you do decide to have a clear out of your collections then the best option is to donate them to an organisation that will re-use them.

Videos: Many charity shops have now stopped accepting video tapes. Please check before donating them - their cases can now be disposed of in the Hard Plastics container at the civic amenity sites listed below.

Description: Books, Tapes and CD's that are in good condition can be donated to various charity shops and organisations around Essex. It is always best to give the organisation a call before you deliver the items to make sure they have a use for the donation.

You will have to pay the postage but they will recycle them. A certificate of destruction can be issued by arrangement and for a small fee, should your CDs contain sensitive data.

You can also now deposit video cases, CDs and the CD/DVD cases (without the paper inserts) in the Hard Plastic containers at the following Civic Amenity sites:
